Improvement in PO engagement
and agile culture

Our client is an international eCommerce company with multiple online stores connected to a central backend. The client has a number of teams with different technology stacks across 15 teams consolidated under a scaled agile framework.

What we did

Our client faced the challenge of reaching a plateau with their organization, and the management felt that a relentless improvement approach was more purposeful than just maintaining the status quo. Our team was asked to identify levers for improvement by conducting an agile assessment focused on agile maturity, tool usage, and cultural aspects of team agility. After a series of workshops with stakeholders, product owners, and delivery teams, we were able to formulate a set of hypotheses for validation that were supported by initial KPIs.

The assessment uncovered several opportunities for improvement in the project toolchain, as well as opportunities for improvement in PO engagement, requirements engineering, and the agile mindset of continuous improvement.

 

Since we always try to get the teams on board with our assessments, we preferred an approach that guided the teams to find solutions to improve their ecosystems themselves. To this end, we discussed the areas for improvement with the teams in a series of workshops and helped through coaching by acting as a quality gate for the improvements in the next sprints.

What we accomplished

As the teams proposed their own improvement actions, this led to a high adoption rate in line with the agile principles of self-improvement as well as direct implementation in the next sprints.
